Increasing demand for marine products in the local market is directly associated with the increasing human population of the country. The increase in population per year has greatly impacted the socio-economic landscape and values of the people.  To mention some challenges associated with population is it’s to the effect to coastal resource management.  Destructive fishing activities is one of the perennial issues affecting coastal resource management in the Philippines. The enforcement of the national and local policies and regulations is very challenging because most of the time the effort will all trickle down to inconsistency in the implementation and lesser priority. Domestic wastes is expected to double this Holy Week 2023 in Bantayan island

The Municipal Solid Waste Management of Bantayan is expected a rise in domestic waste generation in the month of April 2023.  The said increase is due to the balikbayan and visitors coming in the island to witness the Holy Week Celebration in Bantayan Island. Because of this, the Local Government Unit of Bantayan is strictly implementing the 9-waste characterization guide and ensure collection on time.
